19th-century Scandinavian painted canopy bedstead, dated 1824, featuring richly decorated recessed panels across the headboard, canopy, and footboard. The footboard incorporates cabinet doors, while turned posts and hand-painted architectural and floral motifs extend throughout the structure, reflecting the remarkable craftsmanship and character of this historic piece.
The bedstead comes with a custom down-wrapped foam cushion upholstered in Pierce & Ward clay linen, as well as a custom wood mattress support. Consistent with its age, the bed does not accommodate any standard U.S. or European mattress size.
Please note that signs of age and wear are present throughout, reflecting the history and nearly two centuries of life of this very special piece. We have documented its condition thoroughly in the photographs. Kindly reach out to us at shop@pierceandward.com with any questions.
